Midlock GP Booking Routes
Use this guide before you try to log in to Patient Access, phone Midlock Medical Centre, book a GP appointment, request repeat medication, check surgery hours, register with the practice, or ask for test results.
Important correction: Midlock’s online-services page says online appointment booking is currently suspended. Patient Access is still useful for repeat prescriptions where enabled, but GP booking is mainly by phone or reception.
Midlock Patient Access Login: What Works and What Does Not
Patients searching “Midlock Medical Centre Patient Access login” usually want one of two things: repeat prescription access or appointment booking. Midlock’s official online-services page is clear that online appointment booking is currently suspended, while online services can be used for repeat prescriptions after registration and ID verification.
Register first
Midlock says patients registering for online services must provide ID evidence, and the practice issues the necessary documentation after verification, within seven working days or more.
Repeat prescriptions
Patient Access can be used to request repeat medicines when they are due, where the item is available on your repeat list.
Appointments suspended online
Do not assume Patient Access will show GP booking slots. The official page says online appointment booking is currently suspended.
How GP Booking Works at Midlock Medical Centre
Midlock appointments are booked by phone or by visiting reception. The appointment page explains different routes, including on-the-day telephone appointments, pre-bookable telephone appointments, telephone advice and evening routine appointments.
Call from 08:00 for on-the-day telephone appointments
On-the-day telephone appointments are available to book each morning from 08:00 and are intended for sudden illnesses or problems where you want to be seen quickly.
Use pre-bookable telephone appointments for non-urgent care
Midlock says pre-book appointments can be booked up to 14 days in advance and suit non-urgent problems, follow-up or requests for a specific doctor.
Ask for a longer appointment if needed
Normal appointments are around 10 minutes. If the problem is complicated or you have more than one issue, ask about a longer appointment rather than trying to cover everything in one slot.
Cancel if you cannot attend
If you cannot attend, tell the practice in time so the appointment can be offered to another patient. If you are late, you may be asked to re-book.
Opening Hours, Reception and Prescription Numbers
The official contact page and NHS Inform listing both show Midlock open Monday to Friday, 08:00-18:00, closed weekends. The practice notes that telephone lines open from 08:00 and the surgery opens from 08:30.
| Need | Number / time | Use it for | Important note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reception | 0141 427 4271 | Appointments, reception help, questions if online access is not suitable. | Call early if you need on-the-day help. |
| Prescription answering machine | 0141 427 9846 | Repeat prescription requests where appropriate. | Patient Access is usually easier if registered. |
| Out of hours | NHS 111 | Urgent health advice when the practice is closed. | 111 is not for life-threatening emergencies. |
| Patient Transport | 0300 123 1236 | Scottish Ambulance Service patient transport route. | Use only for appropriate transport eligibility. |
| Normal opening | Mon-Fri 08:00-18:00 | Routine practice contact and GP services. | Closed weekends and public holidays. |
Repeat Prescriptions: Patient Access, Form, Phone and Timing
Midlock says it is easier and quicker to request repeat prescriptions through online services. The repeat-prescription page also lists a request form route for people not registered for Patient Access and says to allow two full working days for processing, remembering weekends and public holidays.
Patient Access
Log in and request medicines on your repeat list when they are due. Check the status online before going to the pharmacy.
Request form
If you are not registered for Patient Access, use the practice’s repeat prescription request form route where suitable.
Two working days
Allow two full working days, and add extra time for weekends, public holidays and pharmacy dispensing.
Do You Need Midlock, Pharmacy, Optician, Dentist, MIU, NHS 111 or 999?
Midlock’s website encourages patients to choose the right healthcare professional. This can save time and avoid unnecessary GP appointments.
| Problem type | Suggested first route | Why | Safety note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cough, cold, minor ailment or medicine advice | Pharmacist | Community pharmacies can advise and may handle many minor conditions. | Use 111/GP if symptoms are worsening or high-risk. |
| Eye pain, red eye, sudden vision change | Optician / urgent eye route | Eye professionals are often the correct first route. | Sudden loss of vision or chemical injury may need urgent A&E. |
| Tooth or mouth problem | Dentist | GPs generally do not provide dental treatment. | Use urgent dental services if severe. |
| Minor injury, burn, sprain or simple fracture concern | Minor Injury Unit | MIU may be more suitable than a GP appointment. | Use A&E/999 for serious injury or danger. |
| Closed surgery but urgent health concern | NHS 111 | 111 is the out-of-hours urgent advice route. | Use 999 if life-threatening. |
| Severe chest pain, stroke signs, sepsis signs, anaphylaxis | 999 / A&E | These are red-flag symptoms, not routine GP booking issues. | Do not wait for Patient Access, reception or a call-back. |
Test Results and Specimens
Midlock says patients should call once enough time has elapsed after a test. Reception staff are not qualified to comment on results, and the practice says it is the patient’s responsibility to check results and make any necessary follow-up appointment.
Wait the advised time
When you attend for a test, ask how long results should take and when to contact the surgery.
Identity checks
You will be asked personal details before results are released, because confidentiality rules apply.
Hospital tests
If a hospital consultant arranged the test, Midlock says you should contact that clinic or hospital for the result and advice.
Medical Records, Proxy Access and Subject Access Requests
Midlock explains that online access and formal record access are not the same. If something in your online record looks wrong, the practice asks patients to raise it, preferably in writing rather than booking an appointment only for record wording.
Online record wording
Medical coding may not always match everyday language. Ask the practice if something is clearly wrong.
Proxy access
Parents of children under 12 need a proxy access form. A carer can also be granted access where appropriate.
Subject access
For formal access to your information, use the practice’s record/SAR route and provide enough identity details.
Registering with Midlock Medical Centre
Midlock’s registration page signposts a new-patient registration form and a second step to upload scans of photo identity and proof of address. NHS Inform also warns that GP postcode search results are guidance only and your address may not be served by a highlighted practice.
Check you are using the correct practice
Midlock Medical Centre is at 7 Midlock Street, Glasgow G51 1SL. Do not confuse it with Medlock Medical Practice in Manchester or similarly named listings.
Complete the new patient form
Use the official registration form route rather than a third-party directory.
Upload ID and address proof
The official registration page lists a second step to upload scans of photo identity and proof of address.
Plan medicines while registering
If you take regular medication, allow time for records transfer, prescription review and online-access setup before you run out.
Midlock Doctors and Practice Team
Midlock describes itself as a 6-partner GP practice serving around 9,300 patients across South West Glasgow, including G51, G52 and G53 postcode areas such as Ibrox, Kinning Park, Govan, Cardonald, Pollok and Penilee. The practice uses a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists and physiotherapists.
Doctors listed by the practice
The official doctors page lists partners including Dr Lesley Hay, Dr Mark Fawcett, Dr Gillian Kidd, Dr Maeve Gilsenan, Dr Kevin Currie and Dr Pete Horne. It also lists Dr Sarah Henery as a salaried GP and current trainees/registrars.
Training practice context
Midlock is a training practice. You may see GP registrars or trainees. The practice explains that consultation video recording for training is optional and you can decline.
Evening Appointments and Treatment Room
Midlock says one evening a week has appointments after 18:00. These are pre-bookable and designed for routine problems, especially for patients with work or daytime commitments. They are not an emergency service.
| Service | What it is for | What it may not cover | Booking route |
|---|---|---|---|
| Evening appointments | Routine medical conditions and planned GP access after 18:00. | Blood tests, smear tests, chronic-disease reviews, dressings, ear syringing and some physical examinations may need daytime services. | Book by calling reception. |
| Treatment room | Dressings, wound checks, suture removal, urine and pregnancy tests, B12 injections, blood pressure checks and some advice. | Ask reception if you are unsure whether the nurse can handle the problem. | Book in person or by phoning reception. |
| Telephone advice | Doctor advice for issues that may be dealt with over the phone. | Exact doctor or exact time cannot always be guaranteed. | Leave a reliable number and keep your phone available. |
Interpreter and Communication Support
Midlock’s interpreter page says an interpreting service is available free of charge for patients using GP services in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area, including interpreting for people who are deaf or deaf/blind. It also says children are not allowed to act as interpreters.
Language support
Ask for interpreter help before your appointment where possible, especially for medicines, consent, diagnosis or follow-up instructions.
Deaf/deaf-blind support
Interpreter support can include patients who are deaf or deaf/blind. Use the official leaflet or phone route for setup.
No child interpreters
Do not rely on children to interpret medical details. Use the official interpreting service for safety and confidentiality.
Send a Message, Complaints and Confidentiality
Midlock’s send-message page says not to use the general enquiry form for medical issues or medication queries. It also warns that messages are not checked by clinical staff and may take up to five working days or more.
General message
Use only for non-urgent, non-medical enquiries. Do not send symptoms, urgent concerns or medication requests here.
Complaints form
The official complaints form collects name, date of birth, email, phone, named GP and complaint details.
Confidentiality
Reception may refuse to release medical information if identity or permission is unclear. This protects patient confidentiality.
