3. Not patient records. Use the NHS App or a Subject Access Request to your practice.

4. Not for individual decisions. Site content must not be used as a basis for any employment, insurance, benefits, immigration, tenancy, or other consequential decision about an individual on the basis of health.

5. Verify with the practice before relying. The practice’s own published page is the authoritative current reference.

6. England and Wales law. Disputes are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

7. £100 liability cap. Aggregate liability is capped at £100, except for liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law (including death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or statutory consumer rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015).

4. UK GDPR-Prohibited Use — Critical

You must not use this site as a basis for processing health data about an identifiable individual

Health data is “special category data” under UK GDPR Article 9 and the Data Protection Act 2018. Processing it about an identifiable individual requires both an Article 6 lawful basis and a separate Article 9 condition (plus, in many cases, a Schedule 1 condition under the DPA 2018). You must not use medicalcentreuk.org/ content to: (a) make decisions about employment, recruitment, promotion, redundancy, or any other employment matter on the basis of an individual's health (subject to the Equality Act 2010, the Access to Medical Reports Act 1988, and ICO guidance); (b) make decisions about insurance underwriting, premiums, or claims on the basis of an individual's health (subject to ICO guidance and the Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Act 2012); (c) make decisions about immigration status, visa applications, or right-to-remain on the basis of an individual's health; (d) make decisions about benefits eligibility on the basis of an individual's health (subject to DWP procedure); (e) make decisions about tenancy or accommodation on the basis of an individual's health (subject to the Equality Act 2010); (f) carry out any other processing that requires a lawful basis under UK GDPR Article 6 and a condition under Article 9. You agree to indemnify medicalcentreuk.org/ for any claim, fine, or judgment arising from any such prohibited use, including ICO enforcement action and civil claims under sections 167 and 168 of the Data Protection Act 2018.

5. Accounts

The site does not require account creation for normal browsing. If we add account features in the future, additional terms will apply and any account would not be linked to your NHS record.

6. Intellectual Property

The original editorial content of medicalcentreuk.org/ — directory entries, walkthroughs, framework summaries, and design — is protected by copyright under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. Subject to the permitted-use clause above and the fair dealing exceptions in sections 28A–31 of the CDPA, all rights reserved.

Crown copyright applies to UK Government works (including most NHS England, NHS Digital, and DHSC publications) under section 163 of the CDPA. Most Crown copyright material is licensed for re-use under the Open Government Licence (OGL) version 3.0, which we rely on where we summarise Crown-copyright material. We use the names of NHS bodies and statutory regulators — the NHS, the CQC, the GMC, the MHRA, NICE, individual NHS practice names — nominatively to identify the body our entry covers. We do not claim affiliation or endorsement.

The NHS, the NHS logo, and the NHS lozenge are registered trade marks of the Department of Health and Social Care. We use the term “NHS” descriptively to identify NHS services and do not display the NHS logo. We do not use NHS Identity colours, the NHS logo, or anything that could suggest NHS endorsement of our site.

7. User Submissions

If you send us a correction, comment, or suggestion, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use, reproduce, modify, and incorporate the submission into the site for editorial purposes. We will not publish your name or contact details without your permission.

8. Third-Party Content and Links

The site links extensively to NHS bodies, regulators, and individual practices. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.

9. Disclaimers

The site is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, non-infringement, and availability. We do not warrant that practice URLs, telephone numbers, opening hours, CQC ratings, or any specific detail is current or accurate at any specific moment — practice details change frequently, and the practice’s own page is the authoritative current reference.

10. Limitation of Liability

Subject to clauses 11 (Consumer rights) below, and to the fullest extent permitted by law: medicalcentreuk.org/ and its operators, editors, contributors, employees, and agents are not liable for any indirect, consequential, special, incidental, or exemplary loss arising from your use of the site or your reliance on any content — specifically including but not limited to any clinical decision, any decision to attend or not attend a practice, any delay in seeking medical care, any employment, insurance, benefits, immigration, tenancy, or other consequential decision, any data-protection liability incurred from prohibited use, or any other loss connected to use of the site. Aggregate liability to any user is capped at £100.

11. Statutory Consumer Rights Preserved

Nothing in these Terms removes your statutory consumer rights

If you are a consumer ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom, you have statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other UK consumer protection law that cannot be limited or excluded. Nothing in these Terms affects those rights. Specifically, nothing in these Terms or our Disclaimer excludes or limits our liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; (c) breach of the terms implied by sections 49, 50, and 52 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (in relation to services); or (d) any other liability that cannot be lawfully excluded or limited under the laws of England and Wales (or, where applicable, Scotland or Northern Ireland).

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless medicalcentreuk.org/ and its operators, editors, contributors, and agents from any claim, loss, liability, demand, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the site, including any UK GDPR-prohibited use, any misrepresentation as the NHS or another statutory body, any breach of the Human Medicines Regulations 2012, any commercial scraping in violation of these Terms, or any harassment of clinicians or practice staff.

13. Term and Termination

These Terms are effective until terminated. We may terminate or suspend access to the site or any user, at any time, for any reason or no reason, without notice (subject to statutory consumer rights). Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including IP, UK GDPR-prohibited use, disclaimers, liability cap, statutory consumer rights, indemnity, governing law, and miscellaneous — survive.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute arising from your use of the site are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction. As a consumer ordinarily resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in your local courts under your statutory consumer rights, and the substantive law of Scotland or Northern Ireland (respectively) may apply to those proceedings to the extent required by law.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. The “Last reviewed” date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes are flagged on the site for 30 days. Continued use after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance, subject to your statutory consumer rights to terminate.

16. Miscellaneous

  • Severability. If any clause is found unenforceable, the rest of the Terms remain in effect.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce any clause is not a waiver of future enforcement.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the other policies incorporated by reference, constitute the entire agreement.
  • Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999. A person who is not a party to these Terms has no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any term.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with any sale, merger, or reorganisation of the publication.
  • Headings. Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
