Registering With Northgate: Check the Chester Catchment First
Northgate’s registration page says it can only register patients living within its current catchment area. Because Chester sits close to the Wales border, the practice adds a particularly important local rule: its catchment does not cover patients living in Wales.

Northgate asks patients who are too ill to attend the surgery to telephone before 10:45am and speak with the Duty Doctor.
- The doctor will normally call back after morning surgery to assess whether a home visit is clinically necessary.
- Requests received after midday will normally be visited the following day unless medically urgent.
- Northgate states that lack of personal transport by itself is not a valid reason for requesting a home visit.
- Paramedics support the practice with suitable home-visit requests.
