Choose the Right Wide Way Route First
Most users do not need a long description. They need the correct next action. Start here.
| What you need | Use this first | Exact detail | Avoid this mistake |
|---|---|---|---|
| Repeat prescription | NHS account / NHS App route | Practice says repeat requests are not taken over phone or email. | Do not call reception for routine repeat ordering. |
| Prescription collection | Nominated pharmacy | Usually collect 2 working days after ordering. | Do not assume pharmacy has stock just because the GP approved it. |
| GP appointment request | eConsult / Total Triage | Senior GP reviews during opening hours 08:00-18:30 Mon-Fri and responds by email or text. | Do not submit vague details or wrong contact info. |
| Help using eConsult | Reception support | Practice says reception can help complete the triage form if you struggle with the platform. | Do not abandon urgent concerns because you are not confident online. |
| Nurse-led appointment | Call or come in where appropriate | Practice update says nurse-led appointments can still be booked outside GP appointment eConsult route. | Do not use GP appointment request for every nurse task. |
| Urgent help when closed | NHS 111 | 111 online is for age 5+; call 111 for children under 5. | Do not wait until Monday if urgent. |
| Emergency | 999 | Life at risk, serious illness, serious injury or mental health emergency. | Do not use eConsult or wait for a text reply. |
Total Triage and eConsult: What Changed
GP requests online
Wide Way says it moved to a Total Triage model from 1 September 2025, with GP appointment requests submitted online via eConsult.
Senior GP review
The eConsult page says a senior GP reviews requests during opening hours, 08:00 to 18:30 Monday to Friday.
Reply method
You may receive an outcome by email or text. Correct contact details and NHS App notifications help prevent delays.
Write one clear problem
Use one patient and one main issue. Add when it started, what changed, current medicines, allergies and what you need.
Add contact details carefully
Wrong phone/email details can delay the triage GP. Keep notifications on if using the NHS App.
Say if timing matters
The eConsult page says you can add specific time requirements, and the practice will try to accommodate depending on availability.
Ask reception for digital help
If you cannot complete eConsult, call reception and ask for help with the triage form.
