Need GP help today? You can ask at reception — but that is not a guaranteed walk-in doctor
Moredon patients can request an urgent appointment for today by phoning the surgery or visiting reception while it is open. The team then uses the information you provide to decide which doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional is the most appropriate person to help.
That distinction matters. Walking through the door can start a same-day urgent appointment request; it does not mean a GP will automatically see you immediately without triage or an available slot.
How to Ask for an Urgent Appointment Today
Westrop’s current appointment guidance gives two clear ways to request an urgent appointment for today, Monday to Friday: phone the surgery or visit reception while it is open.
Decide whether to phone or go to reception
If you can phone, call 01793 342000. If telephone access is difficult, Westrop also says patients can visit the surgery and speak to reception during weekday opening hours.
Say that the problem needs urgent help today
Give the care-navigation team enough information to understand why the issue cannot reasonably wait for a routine appointment. You do not need to diagnose yourself.
The practice decides who is most suitable
Westrop says the information you give is used to choose the most appropriate doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional. An urgent request therefore does not automatically mean a GP face-to-face appointment.
Follow the time and format you are given
The response may involve a same-day appointment, telephone contact or another appropriate clinical route. Check the instructions before leaving the surgery or ending the call.
If the practice is closed, use the correct NHS route
Westrop directs urgent out-of-hours patients to NHS 111. Call 999 instead when the situation is a life-threatening emergency.
This distinction is also useful at other surgeries. Our Newport Pagnell same-day GP guide explains the same practical difference between walking into reception and being guaranteed an immediate GP consultation.
What “Same-Day Walk-In” Should Mean for This Page
Westrop’s appointment guidance says patients can visit the surgery and speak with reception during weekday opening hours when requesting an urgent appointment.
Reception gathers information and helps route the request to the appropriate clinician or service.
Use 999 for a life-threatening emergency and NHS 111 when urgent help is needed outside normal GP access.
For another practical example, see our Shelley Manor same-day and walk-in GP route guide , which also separates an urgent appointment request from guaranteed walk-in doctor treatment.
Routine Appointments Use Different Routes
Westrop currently publishes three main routes for routine appointment requests: SystmOnline, its Accurx patient portal and reception.
Accurx Patient Portal
Westrop links patients to an online request route for routine appointment and practice contact.
SystmOnline
Registered patients can use supported SystmOnline functions where these are enabled for their account.
Reception
Moredon’s current branch page says you can call 01793 342000 or come into the surgery to book an appointment.
Online Requests Are Available 24/7, but They Are Not a Same-Day Guarantee
Moredon’s current Westrop page says online requests for prescriptions, sick notes and other queries are available Monday to Sunday, 24 hours a day.
The same page says Westrop responds to these requests within two working days. That makes the online form useful for routine administration and non-urgent contact, but unsuitable for a problem that genuinely needs assessment today.
The Accurx online form can be convenient because it remains available outside reception opening hours.
Follow Westrop’s urgent appointment instruction: telephone Moredon or visit reception while the surgery is open.
Why You May See Two Different Moredon Phone Numbers Online
This is a genuine directory inconsistency worth knowing before you call.
01793 342000
Westrop’s current Moredon branch page lists 01793 342000. NHS Jobs adverts published in 2026 for Westrop staff based at Moredon also use 01793 342000.
01793 342222 also appears in an ICB directory
The Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire ICB GP directory currently displays 01793 342222 for Moredon. Because Westrop is the current operating practice and its branch page is more specific, this guide uses 01793 342000.
Moredon Opening Hours and Tuesday Evening Sessions
| Day | Current branch hours | Patient note |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | 8:00am–6:30pm | Phone and reception access during published hours. |
| Tuesday | 8:00am–6:30pm core hours | Moredon also offers a pre-booked late-evening routine session. |
| Wednesday | 8:00am–6:30pm | Normal branch opening. |
| Thursday | 8:00am–6:30pm | Normal branch opening. |
| Friday | 8:00am–6:30pm | Check bank-holiday notices where relevant. |
| Saturday | Closed at Moredon | Westrop operates separate Saturday Enhanced Access clinics. |
| Sunday | Closed | Use NHS 111 when urgent help cannot wait. |
Westrop Saturday Clinics Are Not Held at Moredon
Westrop currently advertises Saturday Enhanced Access clinics from Taw Hill Surgery and Carfax Medical Centre, normally 9:00am–1:00pm.
GP and advanced nurse
Westrop lists GP and Advanced Nurse Practitioner appointments among the Saturday services.
Mental health
Mental-health appointments are also listed in the Saturday Enhanced Access service.
Reviews and screening
Westrop lists services including cervical screening, asthma, diabetes and COPD reviews, subject to appointment availability.
Westrop Patients Can Also Use Livi Video Consultations
Westrop publishes Livi as an enhanced video-GP option for registered patients. Its guidance says appointments are available Monday to Saturday and are free for Westrop patients.
Westrop lists a range of problems that may be suitable for video assessment, including common respiratory, skin, digestive and mental-health concerns.
Westrop warns patients to select their correct registered surgery in Livi so the service can match them to their medical records.
Repeat Prescriptions: NHS App or SystmOnline Is Easier Than Phoning
Westrop’s current repeat-prescription guidance says the easiest methods are the NHS account / NHS App and SystmOnline.
NHS App
Select repeat medicines available on your NHS account and send the request electronically.
SystmOnline
Westrop also supports SystmOnline for repeat prescription ordering.
Paper request
Westrop also allows repeat slips or prescription request forms to be delivered to the surgery.
For Test Results, Avoid the Early-Morning Phone Rush
Westrop says its telephones are usually particularly busy early in the morning and asks patients calling about test results to do so after 11:00am.
Test results are confidential, so the practice may need to verify who it is speaking to before discussing information. NHS App or other enabled online-record functions may also provide results depending on your account access.
How to Register With the Moredon Branch of Westrop
Westrop first asks prospective patients to check that they live within one of its practice catchment areas. It publishes a dedicated national NHS registration link for Moredon Surgery.
Check the Westrop catchment
Use the catchment tool linked from Westrop’s registration page. The geographically closest surgery does not automatically cover every postcode.
Choose Moredon Surgery
Westrop lists Moredon’s national registration route as Register with Moredon Surgery.
Complete the NHS registration questions
Enter your details on the official service and review them carefully before submitting. Do not submit registration information to MedicalCentreUK.org.
A paper form is also available
Westrop publishes a downloadable registration form for patients who need a non-digital route.
If Moredon does not cover your address, use our NHS GP and medical-centre finder guide to check another surgery by postcode before submitting a second application.
Wheelchair Access Is Published; Parking Details Are Not
Ground-floor access
Westrop’s Moredon page says its consultation room is on the ground floor and describes good access for patients.
It also specifically mentions a ramp and wide doors for wheelchair access.
Parking should be checked before travelling
The current Moredon branch page does not publish completed patient-parking information. It literally leaves that section without usable parking details.
If parking or drop-off arrangements are important for your visit, ask reception before travelling.
Why Old Moredon CQC Results Need Context in 2026
Moredon has changed provider more than once. That makes older inspection pages easy to misread.
Older standalone profile
CQC’s Moredon profile under Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was archived on 10 January 2023.
Current operational provider
Westrop’s current website now includes Moredon as one of its surgeries, and 2026 NHS Jobs advertisements identify Westrop Medical Practice as the employer at the Moredon site.
Westrop’s registered service is Good
CQC currently displays Westrop Medical Practice’s registered service as Good, with its latest recorded data review dated 6 July 2023.
NHS data-security context
The old Moredon organisation code J83031 has a historical NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit record ending before the later provider changes. The current Westrop Surgery organisation record, code J83002, shows its 2025–26 assessment as “Standards met”, published on 30 June 2026. That is an information-security status for the provider organisation, not a clinical-quality rating.
Common Moredon Problems and the Best Next Step
| Problem | What is happening | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You need a GP today | Routine online response may be too slow. | Phone Moredon or visit reception during opening hours and request urgent help for today. |
| You walked in but no GP is immediately free | Reception access is not a guaranteed walk-in doctor service. | Let the practice triage the request and follow the appointment or clinician route offered. |
| You see 342000 and 342222 online | Current directories are inconsistent. | Use Westrop’s current Moredon branch number: 01793 342000. |
| You need help on Saturday | Moredon itself is listed closed Saturday. | Ask about Westrop’s pre-booked Saturday Enhanced Access clinics or use NHS 111 when urgent. |
| Accurx request has not had an immediate response | Moredon’s online contact page publishes a two-working-day response target for routine requests. | If the problem has become urgent, use the urgent appointment or NHS urgent-care route rather than repeatedly sending forms. |
| You need a repeat prescription | Telephone ordering is not accepted for routine repeats. | Use NHS App, NHS account, SystmOnline or the practice’s written prescription route. |
| You found an old CQC Moredon rating | The old Moredon CQC profile belongs to a former provider period and is archived. | Read the provider date and archived status before treating it as current information. |
Our Strawberry Hill same-day GP guide gives another example of why “same-day” and “walk-in” should be explained separately rather than treated as interchangeable promises.

Moredon Same-Day and Walk-In GP FAQs
Can I walk into Moredon Medical Centre and see a GP the same day?
You can visit reception during weekday opening hours to request an urgent appointment for today, but Westrop does not publish a guaranteed first-come walk-in GP clinic. Reception will take information about what you need and the practice will direct you to the most appropriate clinician or next step.
How do I request an urgent appointment at Moredon today?
Westrop says urgent appointments for today can be requested by phoning Moredon or visiting reception Monday to Friday while the surgery is open. The current branch number is 01793 342000.
What is the current Moredon Medical Centre phone number?
Westrop’s current Moredon branch page lists 01793 342000. Some other directories still display 01793 342222, but the current provider’s branch page and 2026 Westrop NHS Jobs adverts use 01793 342000.
What are Moredon Surgery’s opening hours?
Westrop lists Moredon as open Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 6:30pm and closed Saturday and Sunday. Pre-booked additional routine appointments are also offered on Tuesday evenings.
How do I book a routine GP appointment?
Westrop currently lists SystmOnline, its Accurx patient portal and reception as routine appointment routes. Moredon also asks patients to leave non-urgent telephone enquiries until after 9:00am where possible.
Can I send Moredon an online request when the surgery is closed?
Yes. Moredon’s Westrop page says online requests for prescriptions, sick notes and other queries are available 24/7 and are normally answered within two working days. Do not use that response window for a problem that needs urgent same-day assessment.
Are Saturday GP appointments available to Moredon patients?
Westrop runs Saturday Enhanced Access clinics at Taw Hill Surgery and Carfax Medical Centre from 9:00am to 1:00pm. These are separate from Moredon’s normal opening hours, so check the location in your appointment confirmation.
How do I order a repeat prescription?
Westrop recommends the NHS App / NHS account or SystmOnline for repeat prescriptions. It does not accept routine repeat requests by telephone. Current guidance says collection from the nominated pharmacy is usually possible 5 working days after ordering.
Is Moredon Medical Centre wheelchair accessible?
Westrop’s Moredon page says consultation space is on the ground floor and that the surgery has a ramp and wide doors for wheelchair access. The current branch page does not publish completed parking details, so confirm parking arrangements if they are important to your visit.
What should I do if Moredon is closed and I need urgent medical help?
Use NHS 111 online or call 111 when urgent medical help cannot wait until the surgery reopens and the situation is not life-threatening. Call 999 for a life-threatening medical or mental-health emergency.
