Clifton Total Triage Made Easier
If you need a Clifton GP appointment, surgery opening times, the correct reception number or help understanding the new 2026 online triage route, start here.
Clifton Medical Centre now uses AccuRx Patient Online Triage for medical and administrative requests. Even when a GP appointment request starts by telephone or at reception, the practice says a triage form still needs to be completed.
Choose the Right Clifton Route First
Clifton now uses a total-triage model, so asking for “a GP appointment” does not always mean reception simply allocates the next doctor slot.
| What you need | Start here | Clifton detail | What happens next |
|---|---|---|---|
| Medical request | AccuRx Total Triage | Submit the current patient request form through the practice website or NHS App. | A GP or senior clinician reviews the medical request. |
| Administrative request | AccuRx Total Triage | The same system accepts administrative queries. | The appropriate practice team member reviews it. |
| Cannot complete online form | Reception | Call 01709 363950 or attend reception. | Reception can help complete the triage request for you. |
| Routine doctor appointment | Current appointment route | Routine doctor appointments can currently be booked up to 14 working days ahead. | The practice offers the next suitable available appointment after triage. |
| Same-day problem | Total Triage | Clifton publishes same-day appointments for significant problems requiring prompt attention but not classed as life-threatening. | A suitable clinician may telephone, triage or arrange an appointment. |
| Repeat prescription by phone | 01709 363950 → option 2 | This was the practice’s dated update from 23 July 2026. | Follow the current prescription instructions. |
| Evening/weekend appointment | Ask Clifton reception | Enhanced Access appointments are offered collaboratively across Rotherham. | Your appointment may be at another GP site. |
How Clifton’s AccuRx GP Appointment Route Works
Clifton published its Total Triage system on 13 March 2026. The aim is to review the request first and then connect the patient with the appropriate appointment or service.
Start from Clifton’s current patient-request route
Use the Patient Requests / AccuRx option on the current Clifton Medical Centre website, or access the triage route through the NHS App.
Complete the short triage form
The practice asks for a short form so that medical requests can be reviewed by a GP or senior clinician and administrative requests by the appropriate team.
The practice reviews what you submitted
Clifton says the system is designed to prioritise patients according to need and direct each request to an appropriate person or service.
Follow the next step Clifton sends you
You may receive advice, a clinician phone call, a self-booking link, a directly booked appointment or help with an administrative request.
What Can Happen After Clifton Reviews Your Request?
The practice may arrange for a clinician to contact you by telephone.
Clifton says some patients may be sent a link allowing them to book the appropriate appointment.
The practice may directly book an appointment where that is the suitable next step.
Non-medical requests can be directed to the appropriate administrative team.
Depending on the request, the appropriate person may be a GP, pharmacist, nurse, physiotherapist, mental-health practitioner or another member of the wider team.
Clifton says triage may sometimes direct patients to another suitable NHS or healthcare service rather than a GP appointment.
GP, Nurse and Other Appointment Types
Clifton’s current appointment information describes a multidisciplinary model rather than every problem automatically being booked with a GP.
Routine doctor appointments
Routine doctor appointments can currently be booked up to 14 working days in advance.
You can request a preferred GP, although Clifton warns that this may increase the waiting time.
Same-day appointments
Clifton provides same-day access for significant health issues that require prompt attention but are not considered life-threatening.
Other professionals
Current appointment information describes access to pharmacists, nurses, physiotherapists, mental-health practitioners, social prescribers and phlebotomy appointments where appropriate.

Remaining Published 2026 Training Closures
As of this page’s verification on 10 September 2026, Clifton’s official training-closure page lists these remaining 2026 dates. The practice says it closes from 12 noon on those Thursday training afternoons and its phone lines also close.
Reception Desk Changed in March 2026
Clifton published a specific reception update on 13 March 2026. The reception desk no longer opens at 7:00am. Its published opening time is now 8:00am.
Reception starts at 8am
Do not arrive expecting the reception desk itself to be staffed from 7am.
Early-arrival arrangement
Clifton’s March notice says patients arriving before reception opens can sit in the reception area or use the self check-in service located at the rear of the reception area.
Evening and Weekend Enhanced Access
Clifton says patients can also be booked into a range of daytime, evening and weekend appointments through collaborative GP access across Rotherham.
The practice currently publishes evening appointments from 6:30pm until 8:30pm.
Clifton says weekend appointments are also available for its patients.
NHS App, Patient Access and AccuRx: Different Jobs
Clifton publishes several digital routes, and they should not be treated as if they are one system.
AccuRx
Current 2026 Total Triage route for medical and administrative patient requests.
NHS App
Clifton says the NHS App can support functions including appointments, repeat prescriptions, pharmacy nomination, test results and GP-record access.
Patient Access
Clifton’s online-access page also describes Patient Access internet services for supported appointment, prescription and record functions after registration.
Important July 2026 Prescription Phone Update
Clifton’s website still shows an older dedicated prescription-order number in some page headers. However, a newer notice published on 22 July 2026 says that from 23 July 2026, repeat prescriptions should be ordered by calling the main number:
The practice also continues to describe online repeat-prescription routes, including the NHS App.
Test Results
Clifton’s current test-results guidance says that if the doctor has asked you to telephone for a result, call the surgery after 2:00pm.
The practice also promotes the NHS App for viewing test results where those results are available in your account.
Registering With Clifton Medical Centre
The NHS profile currently says Clifton Medical Centre is accepting new patients. Clifton’s own registration page says it accepts new patients who live within its practice area and asks people to check the boundary before registering.
Check your postcode against the practice area
Clifton currently publishes coverage across parts of the S60, S61, S65 and S66 postcode areas. Use the official boundary information rather than assuming the whole postcode district is included.
Follow Clifton’s current registration procedure
The practice page describes completing its new-patient registration form and checking local registration requirements with reception.
Give personal information only to the official service
MedicalCentreUK.org does not need your NHS number, medical history, identification documents or registration form.
Parking and Accessibility Before You Visit
Car park recognition system
Clifton says the patient car park uses a vehicle recognition system operated by ARDPark Ltd.
Long stay / return visit
If you need to stay for more than two hours or return within two hours, the practice says to give your vehicle details to reception so an exemption can be arranged.
Disabled access
Clifton says both its Clifton and Wickersley premises provide wheelchair access, disabled-friendly parking facilities and an induction loop.
