Fisher Medical Centre: Book Through the Right Route
Fisher Medical Centre no longer works like an old-fashioned “ring at 8am and race for a slot” surgery. GP and administrative requests are routed through Modality AWC’s total-triage system, with online, telephone and in-person access feeding into the same process.
This guide explains what happens after you submit a request, when Fisher aims to review it, who the current doctors are, what to do if you cannot use the online form, where the Skipton surgery is, and why an old Fisher CQC page can give you the wrong impression about the current provider.
Emergency and Urgent Help
Fisher Medical Centre is a GP surgery, not an emergency department. The online triage system can prioritise urgent GP requests, but it should not delay emergency treatment.
Call 999. Do not wait for Klinik, reception or an NHS App response.
If Fisher is open, submit or telephone your request and give enough information for clinical triage.
Use NHS 111 online or call 111.
How to Book GP Help at Fisher Medical Centre
The practical point is that Fisher uses total triage: you submit the problem first, and the practice decides the safest and most suitable next step after review.
Open Fisher’s official online route from 8am
Fisher’s current practice page says appointment requests can be submitted online from 08:00 Monday to Friday.
Start from Fisher Medical Centre’s official Modality AWC page and use its Submit a request route.
Choose the option that best describes the request
If none of the buttons seems exact, Modality AWC says patients with physical or mental-health symptoms can use the option for a new or ongoing health problem.
Give clear information about what the problem is, when it started, what has changed and any important context. The triage team needs enough detail to decide urgency and the appropriate route.
Submit one clear request
You do not need to keep calling every morning for the same routine problem once it has entered the triage system. Modality’s FAQ says routine requests remain in the system until the team has assigned the next action.
Watch for phone and SMS contact
Fisher/Modality may contact you by phone or text. Calls can arrive from an unfamiliar number, so keep the contact number you supplied available after submitting.
Follow the clinician and location offered
The next step may be a telephone consultation, face-to-face appointment, another healthcare professional, a prescription-related action or signposting to another service.
What Happens After You Submit a Fisher Request?
This is where Fisher’s system differs from a simple online appointment calendar. The form does not necessarily book a GP slot immediately.
Clinically urgent
Modality says requests judged to need same-day clinical assessment may lead to a same-day telephone call or appointment.
Routine
A routine request may be placed on a waiting route rather than receiving an immediate appointment. The expected timing can vary with clinical need and current capacity.
Administrative
Administrative enquiries go to the Patient Services Team rather than through the same clinical decision pathway.
Current Modality guidance says requests submitted before 4pm are aimed to be reviewed on the same working day, although routine contact may take up to 48 hours. Clinically urgent requests are prioritised.
Appointment systems differ even within West Yorkshire. For example, our Rooley Lane Medical Centre same-day booking guide explains a Bradford practice that publishes a different slot-and-PATCHS arrangement.
Cannot Use Klinik? You Can Still Phone or Go to Reception
One of the most important findings in CQC’s 2024 review was that digital access was not supposed to exclude patients who struggle with an online form.
A Patient Services team member can take the information from you and enter the request into the same access system on your behalf.
You can also attend reception for support. Modality says staff can help patients complete the online triage process in person.
This is useful if you are older, do not have internet access, have difficulty with the form, need language support or simply cannot complete the online route yourself.
Fisher Medical Centre Doctors Listed in 2026
The current Modality AWC team page lists the following doctors under Fisher Medical Practice. Staff lists can change, so use the official team page if you need to confirm a particular GP before an appointment.
GP Partners
General Practitioners
The clinical team is wider than the GP list
Fisher’s current team page also lists nurses, healthcare assistants and allied health professionals, including Advanced Nurse Practitioner Sam Fickes and paramedic Carol Sparks.
That matters when booking because total triage may decide that another clinician can deal with the request more appropriately than a GP.
Can You Ask to See a Particular Fisher Doctor?
Modality’s published patient charter says patients may express a preference for consulting with a particular doctor. That is not the same as a guarantee that the chosen GP will be available for every request.
State the GP you would prefer and briefly explain if continuity is important for an ongoing problem.
Being flexible about the clinician, day or consultation format may make an earlier appropriate appointment possible.
The final clinical route is based on need, urgency, available capacity and which professional is suitable for the request.
Fisher Medical Centre Opening Hours
Fisher’s current Modality location page publishes the following standard opening hours:
| Day | Published opening | Patient note |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | 08:00–18:00 | Online requests open from 08:00. |
| Tuesday | 08:00–18:00 | Phone/reception support is available if online access is difficult. |
| Wednesday | 08:00–18:00 | Clinical requests before 16:00 are aimed for same-day review. |
| Thursday | 08:00–18:00 | Appointment availability still depends on triage and capacity. |
| Friday | 08:00–18:00 | Avoid leaving routine requests until after the practice closes. |
| Saturday | Closed | Extended-access appointments are separate from normal Fisher opening. |
| Sunday | Closed | Use NHS 111 for urgent non-emergency help when appropriate. |
Evening and Weekend Appointments
Fisher’s current practice page says extended hours are available. Because the current Fisher location page does not publish a single fixed Fisher-specific evening/weekend timetable, this guide does not turn older schedules into a 2026 promise.
If an evening or weekend appointment would help, include that preference in your request. The practice can tell you what is currently available and whether the appointment is at Fisher or another Modality/local site.
Repeat Prescriptions: NHS App First
Modality AWC’s current online-services page promotes the NHS App for repeat medication. It lets registered patients view eligible repeat medicines, submit a request and choose the pharmacy to which an electronic prescription should be sent.
Repeat medicine
Use the NHS App where the medicine appears in your repeat list.
SystmOnline
The Modality AWC online-services page also provides SystmOnline for repeat prescriptions and other enabled GP services.
Medication query
If you need something changed, an item is missing or a review is required, use the appropriate practice contact route rather than repeatedly submitting the same repeat request.
If you want a separate practical example of NHS App repeat ordering, our Colton Mill Medical Centre NHS App prescription guide explains the distinction between submitting a repeat request, GP approval and pharmacy dispensing.
NHS App, Test Results and GP Records
Modality AWC says the NHS App can support several routine tasks without waiting on the telephone.
- Order eligible repeat prescriptions.
- View parts of your GP health record.
- View medicines, allergies and vaccinations where available.
- See test results that have been released to your GP record.
- Manage referrals and other NHS account functions where enabled.
If the service you need is not visible in the NHS App, use Fisher’s official online contact route or call the practice. Do not send a screenshot of a private medical record to MedicalCentreUK.org.
Registering With Fisher Medical Centre
Modality AWC’s current registration page lists Fisher Medical Centre as one of the practices available for online new-patient registration.
Select Fisher Medical Centre
Start from Modality AWC’s official new-patient page and choose Fisher rather than another AWC surgery.
Check the catchment area
Use the postcode checker or practice map before spending time completing the registration form.
Complete the NHS registration form
Submit the information requested by the official service. Modality says you do not have to provide ID or proof of address to register, although having them can sometimes help the administrative process.
Wait for practice processing and record transfer
The team reviews the registration and may contact you if it needs more information. Your records are then requested from your previous GP.
If Fisher does not cover your home address, use our UK NHS GP surgery finder guide to check another surgery by postcode before sending registration details.
Registration routes can differ across the wider West Yorkshire area. Our Ashwell Medical Centre registration guide shows another example of why catchment and current practice instructions should be checked before applying.
Services Fisher Medical Centre Currently Lists
Fisher’s current practice page lists a broad NHS primary-care service for Skipton, Gargrave and the wider Craven area.
GP and nurse appointments
Routine and urgent primary-care requests are handled through the AWC access and triage process.
Long-term conditions
The practice lists long-term-condition clinics as part of its regular primary-care services.
Women and children
Women’s health and children’s health services are included in the current practice summary.
Phlebotomy
Fisher lists blood-taking/phlebotomy among its local services.
Minor surgery
Minor surgery is among the services currently listed by the practice.
NHS Health Checks
NHS Health Checks are also included in Fisher’s current service description.
Travel vaccination is also listed. Availability, eligibility and whether a particular travel vaccine is an NHS or non-NHS service should be checked directly with Fisher before booking.
Fisher Medical Centre and Gargrave Surgery
Modality AWC identifies Gargrave Surgery as a branch surgery of Fisher Medical Centre. This matters because some Fisher patients may be offered care away from the main Millfields building.
Main Skipton site: Millfields, Coach Street, Skipton, BD23 1EU. Published weekday opening: 08:00–18:00.
Branch of Fisher with reduced opening arrangements. If you are offered an appointment there, use the address and time in your current booking confirmation rather than an old saved directory listing.
Fisher Medical Centre CQC Rating: Read the Current Record, Not the Archive
Search results can be confusing because Fisher has older standalone CQC pages that are still visible.
Old standalone Fisher record
The historic Fisher Medical Centre provider was rated Good. That record is now archived.
Provider merger
CQC inspected the merged Modality Partnership (AWC) service and rated it Outstanding overall.
Latest access assessment
CQC assessed access and responsiveness again and kept the current provider’s overall rating at Outstanding.
CQC’s present Modality AWC page specifically lists Fisher Medical Centre among the provider’s branch practices. The current provider is rated: Good for Safe, Effective and Caring, and Outstanding for Responsive and Well-led.
What the 2024 CQC Access Review Means for Fisher Patients
CQC looked specifically at concerns about access to Modality AWC, including difficulty with telephone contact and worries that patients could no longer arrange care face to face.
The regulator found that patients could still request help through online, telephone and in-person routes, with staff support available for patients unable to complete the digital form themselves.
This is useful context if you have read older complaints about Fisher’s appointment system: the total-triage model remains in use, but the current process is designed to feed each access route into the same clinical prioritisation system.
Another nearby Bradford-area practice may use a completely different online tool. For example, our Idle Medical Centre booking guide covers PATCHS rather than Fisher’s Klinik system. Do not reuse one practice’s login or form for another surgery.

Fisher Medical Centre FAQs
What is Fisher Medical Centre’s current phone number?
Fisher Medical Centre’s current official Modality page lists 01756 630900. Older archived CQC pages may show a previous number, so use the current practice number rather than an old directory entry.
What are Fisher Medical Centre’s opening hours?
The current practice page lists Fisher as open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 18:00, with Saturday and Sunday closed for normal surgery opening.
How do I book a GP appointment at Fisher Medical Centre?
Submit a request through the Modality AWC Klinik system, available from 08:00 on weekdays. The request is triaged and the practice then contacts you with the appropriate next step, which may be telephone, face-to-face or another clinical route.
Can I book Fisher by phone if I cannot use the online form?
Yes. Call 01756 630900. Modality says Patient Services staff can take the information and complete the triage request on your behalf. Reception can also help patients who cannot use the online system.
Do I need an NHS login to use Fisher’s Klinik form?
No. Modality says patients can submit the form by entering their own contact information. NHS Login can make repeat use quicker because your details do not need to be entered each time.
Which doctors currently work at Fisher Medical Centre?
The current Modality team page lists GP partners Dr Elizabeth Leigh, Dr Barney Jones, Dr Shane Beggan, Dr Sarah Bray and Dr Eleanor Midgley, plus general practitioners Dr Clare Bodey, Dr Isabel Dennison, Dr Naomi Rundle, Dr Stuart Syddall and Dr Emma Graves.
Can I request a particular Fisher GP?
Yes, you can express a preference for a particular doctor. The practice may still offer another suitable clinician depending on urgency, continuity needs, availability and the nature of your request.
Is Fisher Medical Centre rated Good or Outstanding by CQC?
The old standalone Fisher Medical Centre CQC record is archived and shows Good. Fisher is now part of the current Modality Partnership (AWC) CQC location, which is rated Outstanding overall.
How do I register with Fisher Medical Centre?
Use Modality AWC’s new-patient page, select Fisher Medical Centre, check your postcode against the practice catchment and complete the official registration form. If you cannot register online, contact the practice for help.
What should I do when Fisher Medical Centre is closed?
Use NHS 111 online or call 111 for urgent medical help that is not life-threatening. Call 999 for a life-threatening medical or mental-health emergency.
