Search correction: Braidcraft’s doctor appointments are routed through askmyGP between 8am and 11am. Nurse appointments still use the surgery phone route.

askmyGP: Doctor Requests, Sicklines and GP Letters
Open the official practice site
Use the askmyGP link from Braidcraft’s own website so you do not enter symptoms on the wrong service.
Submit between 8am and 11am
The practice says all appointment requests for a doctor are made through askmyGP between 8am and 11am each day.
Use it for the right tasks
The official page says you can request an appointment, advice, fit notes/sicklines and GP letters.
Routine after 11am?
For routine issues after 11am, log your request the following working day between 8am and 11am.
Same-day aim
The practice says it aims to appoint doctor appointments the same day the request is received through askmyGP.
Late appointment rule
If you are 5-10 minutes late, you may wait until the end of surgery; more than 10 minutes late means you will not be seen and must re-appoint.
Braidcraft Doctors and Clinical Team
Doctors listed by the practice
Official doctor pages list Dr Basma Paulina, Dr Jane Dickson, Dr David Logie, Dr Oona Tanner and Dr Dale Coghill as partners, plus junior doctor Dr Noah Fallahi.
Why you may not always need a GP
The practice signposts patients to pharmacists, opticians, dentists, nurses, podiatry, weight-management services, minor injury routes and self-referral options when those are more suitable.
Doctor, Nurse, Pharmacist or Minor Injury Unit?
| Problem type | Best route | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Blood pressure check, urine infection, smear, dressings, contraception, immunisations, diabetes, asthma, COPD, heart care, smoking cessation or travel advice | Practice nurse by phone booking | The practice lists these as nurse-supported areas and says nurse appointments may be quicker. |
| Coughs, colds, mild eczema, athlete’s foot, everyday minor ailments | Pharmacy or self-care where safe | Local pharmacy can help many minor conditions without GP appointment. |
| Sprains, suspected broken limbs, minor head injury, cuts, bites, scalds, eye problems or minor injuries | Minor injuries unit / appropriate urgent-care route | These may need treatment or assessment but not always A&E or GP. |
| Dental pain, facial/oral swelling, oral trauma or mouth bleeding | Dentist / dental emergency route | GPs are not the right route for most dental emergencies. |
| Complex long-standing medical issue | askmyGP doctor request | A GP appointment may be appropriate when symptoms are complex, ongoing or need doctor review. |
When Braidcraft Is Closed: NHS 24, 111 and Queen Elizabeth Out-of-Hours
NHS 24
Call 111 when the practice is closed for urgent health or medical problems that cannot wait.
Local out-of-hours centre
The practice lists Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Govan Road, Glasgow as the local out-of-hours centre, but says it is not walk-in and you must telephone first.
Emergency
Call 999 for genuine emergencies. Chest pain and shortness of breath are emergency examples.
Repeat Prescriptions: 2 Working Days, Patient Access and Pharmacy Help
| Prescription route | Braidcraft detail | Practical action |
|---|---|---|
| Patient Access / online service | Best route for medication already on your repeat list. | Log in and select the correct repeat medication. |
| Repeat request form | If not registered for online services, use the practice’s quick repeat prescription request form. | Copy item names exactly from your prescription slip. |
| In person | Return the right-hand half of the previous prescription or a handwritten request. | Hand it to reception and allow 2 working days. |
| Post | Post prescription slip or written request; include stamped addressed envelope if return by post is needed. | Allow extra postal time; the practice advises at least 7 working days for delivery. |
| Phone | Phone between 10:00am and 4:00pm. | Use carefully; online/paper routes are usually safer for exact medication names. |
| Urgent repeat if you run out | Pharmacy may help under urgent repeat medication provision. | Ask your pharmacy if they can supply a further cycle of previously repeated medicine. |
Test Results and Specimens: Afternoon Calls Only
Routine results
Results are given out Monday-Friday between 14:00 and 18:00. The practice asks patients not to phone in the morning for routine results.
Hospital tests
If your test was carried out by a clinic or hospital, contact that clinic or hospital because the practice cannot action tests requested by other clinicians outside the practice.
Confidentiality
Results are normally given only to the person they relate to unless prior permission exists or the person cannot understand them.
Home Visits: Before 10am and Medically Assessed
Who qualifies
Doctors can consider home visits for medical reasons only. If you can attend with a walking aid, wheelchair or scooter, the practice asks you to come to surgery.
When to call
If you think you qualify, ring before 10:00am and provide a current landline or mobile number.
What happens next
All visit requests are medically assessed. The GP may phone first, and another route may be safer.
Registering with a GP in Scotland: What Braidcraft Says
NHS primary care entitlement
Braidcraft’s entitlement page says anybody in Scotland may access primary care services at a GP practice without charge, and a patient does not need to be “ordinarily resident” to be eligible for NHS primary care.
Documents requested, not required
The same page says no documents are required to register with a GP, but the practice requests two forms of identification to help registration, ideally one photographic and one with your address.
- If you are new to the practice, bring a current medication list to your first visit.
- If you take repeat medication, do not wait until your first Braidcraft prescription is due.
- If someone is registering on your behalf, their details may be recorded on the registration form.
- If you have no documents, ask reception how they can support GP registration under NHS Scotland rules.
Sick Notes, Fit Notes and GP Letters
askmyGP route
The appointment page says askmyGP can be used for fit notes/sicklines and GP letters.
Backdating
The practice’s sick-note page says a sick or fit note can be backdated; discuss this with your GP.
No urgent slot just for a note
The practice says emergency or urgent appointments should not be used to request sick or fit notes.
Community Services, Blood Tests and Local Numbers

Disability Access, Interpreters and Confidentiality
Disability access
The practice says it is specially designed to make it easier for disabled patients to visit, with access to a disabled toilet if required.
Interpreters
The appointment page says an interpreting service can be arranged via Glasgow Interpreting Services.
Confidentiality
Staff cannot discuss a patient’s medical history or registration status without verified written consent, except where the patient cannot act for themselves and already has an authorised carer/person.
Complaints, Practice Manager and Chaperones
Complaint route
The complaints page says to contact the Practice Manager. The listed Practice Manager is Grant Anthony.
Acknowledgement
Braidcraft says it will acknowledge a complaint letter or complaints form within 3 working days.
Chaperones
Patients who request a chaperone will not be examined without one being present. If needed and unavailable, the examination may be rearranged.
Non-NHS Forms, Letters and Private Work
Some requests are outside the NHS GP contract and may be chargeable. The practice says forms and medicals take GP time away from patient care and should be handed in at reception.
| Private / non-NHS request | Braidcraft note | Patient action |
|---|---|---|
| Insurance claim forms | Example of non-NHS work. | Ask reception about fees and timescale before you need the form. |
| Driving, employment or sports medicals | GP must check relevant records before signing. | Do not expect overnight completion. |
| Vaccination certificates | May be chargeable if outside NHS contract. | Ask practice nurse/reception what is NHS and what is private. |
| Medication abroad / extended travel | Travel-related prescriptions can be limited and may need private prescription depending on circumstances. | Ask early before travel. |
| GP letters | Can be requested through askmyGP or reception depending on type. | Explain exactly what the letter must confirm and who needs it. |
